Strike Out Hunger Bowl-a-thon

Many of you have probably heard about Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger but have you heard about Project Bread’s Strike Out Hunger Bowl-a-thon?  We hadn’t either until recently.  Since everyone who works here at Kettle Cuisine likes to have fun (especially when it’s for a good cause) – I knew we had to form a team.   Enter the Soup Soul Strikers.  A dedicated group of 6 novice and expert bowlers who were determined to make their mark on this fun charitable event to help thousands of people in Massachusetts put nutritious meals on their tables for their families.

Fundraising:

In an effort to raise the funds together as a group in a boisterous and spirited manner, Levon and his lovely wife Tina graciously opened their house for a Poker Tournament / Football Party a couple Sundays ago.  Poker chips were flying; antes were raised– all in the name of charity.  After a winner emerged victorious, it was time to dive into the delicious bounty of food.  With plates piled high, we turned our attentions to the next big game– the Pats.  Sadly, they lost that day but all-in-all we still managed to have a good time!

The Big Day!

On Tuesday, November 15th Team Soup Soul Strikers joined with up with another 200 bowlers at Lucky Strike/Jillian’s with the same mission- to Strike Out Hunger.  Donning the ever stylish bowling shoes, each team member showed off their best bowling form over ten frames.  Amid a sea of strikes and spares, there were a few gutter balls and creative throws; all of which resulted in hearty laughter and high-fives for everyone.   We even got to meet Ramiro and Pebbles – local radio personalities from JAM’N 94.5’s morning show!

The Results:

While we may have not been the best bowling team at the event, our team along with the 31 others were able to raise over $27,000 to help hungry people in Massachusetts!
